This park in the Belvedere neighbourhood has an area of 1.57 ha. This neighbourhood was named after an existing subdivision. Once part of the Village of North Edmonton, Belvedere was annexed to Edmonton in 1910. At that time, industrial and commercial zones began to displace local farms. Residential development did not take place until the 1950s and 1960s. Belvedere may be a descriptive name as a "belvedere" is a raised turret or summerhouse used to view scenery. From the early 1900s, the land between the LRT tracks and Fort Road from 60 Street to 50 Street and 137 Avenue was also known as The Braids.
