This park is in the Fulton Place neighbourhood and has an area of 1.93 ha. The Fulton family homesteaded land near the creek in the Clover Bar area. Leander Fulton (b. 1839) came west from Nova Scotia in 1883 and a year later was joined by his wife and their children. Their eldest son, Daniel, farmed an area near his father's and, in 1889, Daniel and his wife built their first home there. They named it Burnside, after the Scottish word for creek, because of its proximity to Fulton Creek. As the name Fulton Creek was noted on a federal government map of 1903, it is likely that it had been in use for some time before. The course of Fulton Creek has been interrupted by city development between approximately 72 Avenue at 46 Street, and Terrace Road at 67 Street.
