Built in 1605, it is the oldest building in Seyda. Until the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the Amtshaus served as the administrative seat of the Royal Saxon Office of Seyda.
The building was constructed from materials from the demolished Sydow Castle, which was located a few meters from the site of the Amtshaus.
In addition to the registry office, an office of the Annaburg Forestry Office, and a practice room for the Seyda marching band, the massive structure primarily houses the local history museum.
