The visitors center provides Marine Science about the Elephant seals nearby, 20 minutes walk down the trail. Get a permit from the visitor center, or a self-guided tour map outside of the breeding season. Bikes are permitted along the trail to the bike racks; during the season rangers or docents staff the guard post at the entry into the preserve. parks.ca.gov/?page_id=523
