It draws its waters primarily from the Speyerbach, of which it is the left branch. The Rehbach does not have its own source, but branches off to the left in Neustadt an der Weinstraße at the Winzinger Wassergescheid, carrying one-third of its water volume. After leaving the Neustadt area, the Rehbach flows through the western part of the Rhine plain, initially in an easterly direction and later in a northeasterly direction. As it flows through the plain, the stream touches the municipalities of Haßloch, Böhl-Iggelheim, Schifferstadt, Limburgerhof, and Neuhofen.
