The Esterliturm is a reinforced concrete observation tower south of Lenzburg.
Built in 1974, the tower is made up of 19 concrete pipe sections of 2.50 meters height and has a total height of 48 meters. The viewing platform, 45 meters high, is accessed via a staircase inside the tower via 253 steps. 18 slightly offset narrow windows provide the lighting. This tower is not the first one in this location. As early as 1906, a first Esterliturm made of wood was built.
In about 15 - 20 minutes hiking trails lead from Egliswil to the lookout tower. The tower offers a panoramic view from the Black Forest to the Alps. Eight panoramic panels from the years 1977/1978 inform the visitors about the possible view and about the technical data of the tower.naming
On the western side of the Esterliturms one finds on the map the designation "Esterli". This used to be the livestock passage in the grazed forest between Lenzburg and Egliswil. The first

The tower is about 45 meters high and very easy to reach. It was made from prefabricated concrete elements. By the time you get to the top, it becomes almost dizzy from the spiral staircase. The view to the Alps is very nice in good weather.

Great views and at the foot of the tower there are good opportunities to linger with tables, benches and fire pits

I have created the following checklist for myself, and always keep it ready before I plan a hike or mountain hike. And before you start, check the checklist whether everything is included and has also been clarified. I can recommend such a checklist to everyone (in their own way). Important: Always pay attention to the current body shape, how someone is doing and whether he feels fit or not. Not to underestimate.Checklist (see below)route
Altitude and altitude (ascent and descent)
    Type of hike:
Day hike, circular hike, summit ascent, multi-day tour etc.
    Start, end, most important stopovers
    Trail category / n:
Hiking trail, mountain hiking trail, alpine hiking trail
    Other requirements and conditions
    way back
Number, mobile phone numbers, experience and condition of the fellow travelers
    Travel / accommodation
    meeting point
    Last possibility to return
For overnight stays: hotel or hut reservations
    Precipitation risk / thunderstorm risk
    Weather change during the day
    walking boots
Clothing: rain protection, warm sweater or jacket, hat, gloves
Sun protection: glasses, headgear, sunscreen with a high protection factor
    adequate food and drinks
    hiking map
charged mobile phone with emergency numbers
    First aid kit
    pocket knife
    Assessment / alternatives
My planning is realistic (schedule, personal skills, equipment, etc.).
I checked requirements and weather forecasts and worked out appropriate alternatives (e.g. abbreviations) so that I could reschedule on site if necessary.
The current conditions allow this mountain hike, I have a good feeling about it.
For hikes in groups: Hiking planning and responsibility in the group is regulated. Everyone is informed and motivated.
