The Fontana del Nettuno in Trento's Piazza del Duomo was built between 1767 and 1769 under the direction of the sculptor Francesco Antonio Giongo from Lavarone and originally served as the city's water supply. The multi-tiered structure is decorated with allegorical figures such as tritons, sea horses, and putti, with a statue of the Roman sea god Neptune at its center. The original, by Stefano Salterio, is now housed in the Palazzo Thun; the bronze version standing in the fountain was made by Davide Rigatti in 1945.
