Hardened Sand Road Near Ban Lee

Horrible road from here on up north, it never gets better. Small and big stones in hardened sand create endless bumps. This type of road is the worst to ride on, we were going only 7km/h on average with careful riding of our packed gravel bikes. Since there are very few (maybe no) guest houses after a few kilometers (see highlight further north), you need to either bring camping equipment or a mountain bike.

The owner of the ban Lee homestay organized us a transport to Muang Khua. It took the driver 5 hours. He would not go if there was any rain. The road turns into a hardened sand road after about 20km with small villages very now and then. We did not see shops or even hotels/guest houses there. A tent is necessary to make the trip.
