Starting at Tucson’s northeastern edge, Mt. Lemmon climbs from just under 3,000 feet to over 9,000, winding through desert, grasslands, and pine forests with steady 4–6% grades. At mile 25.8, a right onto E. Ski Run Road signals the start of steeper pitches, averaging 7.5% to the top. The final 1.7 miles grind at 8% toward the observatories, where a closed gate often blocks the last 200 yards.
