Saint Roch, who is the patron saint of this church, was born in Montpellier, France, in the mid-14th century. He is popularly known - along with Saint Sebastian - as a "plague saint". Characteristic of the depiction of Rochus in paintings and as a statue is that he usually points to a plague bump on his leg; Often a dog can also be seen at his feet, because according to legend, when he was caring for plague patients, he was ill himself and withdrew into solitude, providing him with bread every day. The memorial day of Saint Roch in the calendar of saints is August 16th.
