At the end of the carnival, a special winter clean-up takes place in Novaj. A procession with a bridal couple (male) and many soot-blackened people moves through the village from 11am to 3pm with music and dancing. The spectators also get soot in their faces! As in the German-speaking world, the Russ (chimney sweep) probably means luck and Remélés = hope
