The Huttaler weighing, also called Hutthaler weight, is a building of the Upper Harz water shelf .......

As a counterbalance a small basin or a small accumulation is called in the area of the Upper Harz water shelf. This basin is dammed here by a wooden weir structure, a so-called bust. It is connected by the Huttaler watercourse with the Hirschler pond located on the other side of the ridge and communicates with it. From the Huttaler Graben the water balance is supplied from the Schwarzenberg and the Polsterberg Hubhaus. If the weir is dammed up, the water is passed through the Huttaler watercourse to the Hirschler pond. There it could be used to power the very rich pit Caroline and pit Dorothea.

At high tide the service boards of the weir can be removed. Then the flow gradient turns around and water from the Hirschler pond flows through the Huttaler watercourse and through the Huttaler balance to the Huttal and then on towards Söse. Thus, the flood situation in Clausthal could be defused.

Here is also a stamp office for the Harzer hiking nobility. Only unsportsmanlike cyclists use the opportunity to get used to the needle.

The causeway is very easy to navigate in this section (above the Huttals). There are virtually no roots. However, the slope to the valley partly steep falls steeply. Years ago we had a great vision, but the children did not dare to drive.
