Located in Los Realejos, in the north of Tenerife, the Rambla de Castro combines the great natural wealth of a protected landscape with the traces of work in the fields of the Canary Islands. This trekking starts at sea level on the beach of Los Roques to culminate at the Hacienda de Castro, where visitors can remember the pirate attacks of centuries past, see the splendour of the Casona de Castro and, in La Gordejuela, see the place where the first steam engine used to raise water in Tenerife was installed.
A fort against pirate attacks in the 18th centuryWith a two-kilometre route and hardly any gradient, the Rambla de Castro route can be done in two directions. It is recommended to start at the Hotel Maritim and end at the San Pedro viewpoint, where there are more options to return to the starting point by public transport. With low difficulty, the trail combines cobbled ground with dirt areas and traditional paths. In addition to the fort of San Fernando, built in the 18th century, you can visit the hermitage of San Pedro, which houses a valuable baroque carving of the apostle.holaislascanarias.com/senderismo/tenerife/rambla-de-castro
