Denkmal Like most of the former East Prussian territories during World War I, Jedzbark also found itself within the range of operations. There is even a full story connected with it, telling of the shooting down of a plane, which supposedly took place on August 27, 1914. The events of that period are commemorated by a monumental monument dedicated to those who died during World War I on all its fronts. The so-called "Denkmal" was created in 1919, and its executor was Józef Sommer. It is located on a designated area on a hill, slightly away from the center of the town. The monument is a large-sized construction made of field stone, the central element of which is an over two-meter-high sculpture of Christ, standing in the middle of this installation on an additional pedestal also made of stone. Around the figure are two plaques, the inscriptions on them contain 17 names of residents of the village of Jedzbark (Hirschberg) and 2 names of the fallen from the neighboring town of Odryty (Odritten). Next to this commemorative obelisk there are graves, unfortunately there is no information on this subject. The monument in Jedzbark is one of the most interesting and best-preserved such objects commemorating that period
