The Kahler Asten is the third highest mountain in the Rothaargebirge at 841.9 m, after the Langenberg (843.2 m) and Hegekopf (842.9 m), and the second highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia after the Langenberg. It is located near Winterberg in the Hochsauerland district. The Lenne and Odeborn springs and a high heath are located on the mountain. The mountain is the location of a weather station.Great views and very nice hiking trails.

You can get to the Kahler Asten either on foot or by car. The descent is specially signposted for drivers and is hard to miss. For anyone who is fit enough, however, I would recommend walking. Some people struggle up the steep slope parallel to the ski lift, but there is also a second path that goes more or less through the forest. It is steep here too in places, but I think it is doable for most people with breaks.
