Abandoned, not open to visitors. The Vigyázó castle is located in Nagyberki, Somogy county, and its building is a monument. The castle was built in the 1760s by the Schmidegg family, and then in the 1860s it became the property of the Vigyázó family, together with the granary that belonged to it. After the war, the castle housed an elementary school for a long time. During this period, in 1974, the film Jutalumutazás was filmed here. In 1980, it was taken over by the Somogy County Council from the Village Council, at which time the exhibited material of the Somogy County Archives was moved here and the building was then renovated. It was opened and handed over as an archive in 1985, where since then land registry documents, village council and producer cooperative documents have been stored. From 1986 - as the newest department of the Somogy County Archives - it was also opened to researchers. The floor area of the castle is 1100 m2. The area of the park is 2 hectares - which is a nature conservation area, unfortunately only a few pieces of rare trees and shrubs, with a cultural center on it, remain in the ownership of the local municipality. The most valuable plants of the park, which has been declared a nature reserve, are old sycamores, spruces and Japanese acacias, and you can also find tall black walnut and chestnut trees here. The trunks and foliage of the stout thuja and the slender common birches are eye-catching all year round, while the tamarisks are especially magnificent when in bloom.
