Tips
The rock castle probably dates from the end of the 14th century.
Its purpose was to protect the old Bohemian road, an important trade route between Bohemia and Saxony.
The climb to the castle is very adventurous.
To reach the summit, you have to climb several ladders and steep stairs set into a narrow crevice in the rock.translated by

In 2021, Schauenstein was reconstructed, the unstable boulders above the entrance were secured and the viewing platforms were better secured.
