    The Hintersee is beautifully situated in the valley floor against the impressive backdrop of a mountain range over 2700 m high in the west (with the Geißköpfe as well as the Geiering and Hochbirghöhe) and the almost three thousand meter high Tauernkogel (2,988 m) in the south. On the mountain slopes in the south you can see the Felberbach, which rushes down powerfully (with waterfalls) from the Plattachsee above. To the southeast you can see the steep mountain slopes over which the paths lead to and from the St. Pöltener HĂŒtte. Benches on the meadows by the shore invite you to take a rest.
