Sorrivoli Castle is a fortress in the homonymous hamlet of Roncofreddo, in the province of Forlì-Cesena.

From the sources it is deduced that "Castrum Sorrivoli" was part of the dominions of the Ravenna church from 970 until 1228; in 1237 it was taken by the Malatesta of Sogliano who held it until 1290 when it was conquered by the church of Rome which, in 1302, returned it to the Ravenna church; shortly after it was conquered by Agnello Articuni who held it until 1333 when it became the lordship of the city of Cesena; it was retaken by the Ravenna church about forty years later and, in 1517, the Roverella family from Rimini settled in the castle. It was donated after the Second World War by the Vidam family to have a church built inside to replace the one destroyed in 1944.[1]

Since 2023 it has been at risk of collapse due to a landslide affecting the hill on which it was built.

The plan is rectangular; the castle is accessed from the north side, through a brick bridge that replaced a drawbridge over the moat. The building dates back to the Malatesta period, although the Roverella family significantly modified it to make it a residence, modifying the north side, while the remaining three sides are made up of high walls that contain the embankment with quadrangular-based towers at the corners. Inside the courtyard there is a keep without battlements. The cellars that are located under the north wall are large barrel-vaulted rooms used, until the 16th century, as stables.
