The Aspøy School is a primary school in the Norwegian city of Ålesund. The school building is a listed building and is located on a hill in the city center of Ålesund at Aspegata 14 on the island of Aspøy.

    Architecture and history
The school was built from 1919 to 1922 according to plans by the architectural firm Morgenstierne & Eide in the neo-baroque style and cost a total of 2,272,742 Norwegian kroner. 31 classrooms were built as well as rooms for the school doctor, the dentist and the school kitchen. A swimming pool was set up in the basement. The various wings of the building are grouped around an inner courtyard. The main wing has three full floors and two attics. The building is covered by a hipped roof covered with slate. The side wings are lower. At the northwest corner of the complex there is a tower designed as a ridge turret.

The inauguration took place on November 22, 1922. Later, further extensions were added, so that the schoolyard is now closed on all sides.

During the Second World War, the school was hit by bombs. The tower and the top floor were destroyed. There was also further damage. A makeshift repair was carried out so that school operations could continue. From May 1942, however, the school was used by the German occupying authorities as a warehouse and accommodation. In 1945, the facility was hit by bombs again, but the damage was relatively minor. By 1951, the war-related damage had been completely repaired.

    Education
The school teaches around 180 children in the first seven grades. An important focus of the school is teaching children whose native language is not Norwegian. 40 people work at the school in full-time and part-time positions. (as of 2017)
