For a long time, the stories of the "Birg-Peter", a robber baron, who was operating from his castle ("Birg", south of the Primsschleife near Limbach) are told in the Schmelzer district of Limbach. In fact, one can still see the exit of his escape tunnel described in the legend, the so-called "Kesslers Holes" at the foot of the large eyrie, in the Primsaue opposite the Schattermühle.

Kessler's holesThe name Kessler appears in the 19th century as the name of a charcoal family that also produced charcoal in the “Birg” area. This “cave” is the remains of what was called a copper mine in the local history of Limbach from the 1920s. Source: Text information board
