Röhe is a western district of Eschweiler in the Aachen urban region of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies almost entirely on a hillside on the edge of the Eschweiler Inde valley, along a Napoleonic highway that today forms the B 264. The A4 motorway divides Röhe into North and South Röhe. The very steep Röher Straße, which turns off the federal highway at the Hotel Schwan landmark towards Aue, is popularly known as the “Lazy Herring”, probably due to the swamps that existed in the Inde valley at the time1.

The Catholic Church of St. Antonius, on the federal highway 264, is a symbol of Röhe. It was built in 1843 and is deliberately kept plain and simple. Significantly damaged in the Second World War, it was temporarily restored in 1948 and opened for worship.
