The Witches' Tower - Babenhausen 🚴♂️The Witches' Tower is one of Babenhausen's landmarks and was formerly called the Mill Tower,
because it is located right next to the town mill on the city wall in the middle of the picturesque old town, with its remnants of the former city wall and beautiful half-timbered houses. The Witches' Tower served as a prison in the late Middle Ages. Tortures are said to have taken place here, some of which even resulted in death. No evidence of witch burnings has been found anywhere in the town, but at least one pillory is said to have been attached to the Witches' Tower. It is one of the town's two remaining defense towers, the other being the Bresch Tower. Next to the Witches' Tower stands what is said to be the oldest house in Babenhausen. An inscription dates it to 1442. 🚴♂️tourismus-odenwald.de/de/poi/detail/589adcdc975aca0dd3a94c8b
