Magnificent cultural landscape, legacy of the Walser pioneers

Sunny, lush alpine meadows, at the feet of which the Bregenzerach flows down into the valley, while in the background the captivating massif of the Braunarlspitze spreads out and the tributaries of the Fellebach cascade down in shimmering cascades. What an intoxicating panorama and what a preferred place that the Walsers once chose as their home. There is evidence that there was a settlement on Älpele's mountain as early as 1453. And how beautifully the Walser houses were scattered in gentle hollows and on small hilltops can be seen from the splendidly preserved homeland of uf m Bühl. Even though the last resident left Älpele in 1902, the cultural landscape that is still maintained is a true gift. There is no end to the amazement when you discover the steep Juppenmahd above the rocky ledge to the south.
