The Murtalbahn starts at Unzmarkt station!

The Murtalbahn is as much a part of the Murau region as Murau beer, the Kreischberg or the legendary figure of Anna Neumann. It is not just the local public transport - the historic steam train is particularly recognizable, painting a picture of a long-gone railway era in the Upper Murtal. On a 64 km stretch (narrow gauge: track width 760 mm) directly along the Mur, between Unzmarkt, Murau (Styria) and Tamsweg (Salzburg), you can enjoy a train experience like it's in the books!

The route is the second longest narrow gauge railway in Austria after the Mariazell Railway.

The Murtalbahn runs from Unzmarkt - Tamsweg and from Tamsweg - Unzmarkt every 2 hours.
