HERMIT OF BLESSED SALOMEA IN Grodzisk

is one of the most interesting and mysterious objects in the Prądnik Valley. Its history begins in 1228, when Prince Henry the Bearded decided to build a wooden defensive fortress on a high limestone rock. However, it was quickly destroyed by the troops of Konrad Mazowiecki. On the ruins in 1257, the Poor Clare sisters founded a monastery. They moved here from Zawichost, where it was exposed to Tatar attacks, but due to the harsh conditions, the monastery operated for only about 50 years. However, the life and activities of Blessed Salomea, who died here in 1268, are forever connected with the history of this place. She came from the famous Piast dynasty - she was a princess, daughter of Leszek the White, sister of Bolesław the Chaste, wife of King Coloman.
