Sheep have been helping humans for centuries. This is still visible in and around the Achter 't Zaand sheepfold in Lhee, on the edge of the Dwingelderveld. There is a happy union between the Drenthe heath sheep, the shepherd and his dog.

It is a beautiful sight to see the entire herd fanning out in the morning. But that's the tourist picture. In the meantime, they are all working hard. In the period from May to September, the times of departure and return cannot always be stated precisely. That depends on the weather and the grazing area in the Dwingelderveld.
