This castle ruine high above the Lauter river is the landmark of Angersbach. The castle was built in the 13th century, but according to excavations, the ancient Romans are likely to have dug storage pits here as early as 200 AD. However, just a few decades after its construction, the castle was destroyed again due to a feud. After that, the ruin served the surrounding villages as a quarry for a long time. The ruins were later recognized as a cultural monument and extensive excavations were carried out. Today the old ruin can be visited, and weddings are even held here from time to time.
To get there follow the dirt road, which is closed to traffic. You maz have to walk your bike on some sections when coming from the equestrian center to the ruins or roll back down about 500 meters.
