Castell de Guadalest is a municipality in the Valencian Community, located in the interior of the province of Alicante. Belonging to the Marina Baja region.
It is a small, mainly tourist town, well known for the picturesque castle that dominates the entire Guadalest valley.
The municipality is located in said valley and is bordered by the highest heights of the province. To the north is the Xortà mountain range (1126 m), to the south is the Aitana mountain range (1558 m) and to the west is the Serrella mountain range (1361 m). The altitude is 595 m and its most representative heights are Els Parats (1147 m), Morro Blau (1124 m) and Morro Blanco (1084 m).
The Guadalest River crosses the district from west to southeast, collecting its waters in the reservoir of the same name.

The old town is reached from El Arrabal through a tunnel carved into the rock. On the way there, on the right you can see the bell tower on the top of the rock, surrounded by La Alcozaiba, the remains of the old fortifications that defended the town.

The castle, which has retained its medieval character high on the rock and surrounded by the remains of the old castle wall, was conquered by Jaime I and reinforced under Pedro IV. After the destruction caused by the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714), only the cistern and the tower (Torre de homenaje) and the remains of the castle wall remained. Access is via the town hall.
