This is a town hall, not a racing bike highlight.

If at all: a cycling or hiking highlight.

      Old Town Hall/Bakehouse (1722) - Büttelborn/Worfelden 🚴‍♂️

The old town hall/bakehouse. This, however, does not refer to the building as we know it today. This was built in 1777, as a dendrochronological study in 2002 revealed. "A two-story town hall, containing the common blacksmith shop, the bakehouse, the shepherd's house, and the guardroom." The shepherd's house evidently served as accommodation for passing shepherds: The night watchman spent his time in the guardroom between ringing the bell and his patrols. The New Year's fire watchmen are also likely to have had their base here. From March 1806, 30 French soldiers were housed in the town hall, who had to be nursed back to health by the people of Worfelden so that they could once again stand their ground in the upcoming fighting against Prussia in October. In 1875, the property consisted of a two-story town hall, a baking oven, and a fire station. In the 1970s, the plaster was removed from the town hall, and the half-timbering was exposed. The beautiful decorations and carvings that make other town halls so special are completely absent from our town hall—a testament to the dire economic circumstances the community must have faced at the time. Today, the town hall houses the local library, and the local history society has its headquarters here.
