Lemgo has many beautiful old houses. The stone hall (market place) is also worth a visit. There is also a nice gastronomic offer

Founded in the 12th century, the city of Lemgo can now look back on more than 825 years of history. The old town, founded by Bernhard II of Lippe north of the Bega floodplains, has a planned layout with a three-street pattern that can otherwise only be found in Lippstadt in the region.

Today's Echternstrasse, Mittelstrasse and Rampendal/Papenstrasse form the main streets, which are connected in a ladder shape and lead together to a city gate. In the middle of the 13th century, the new town was founded south of the old town in what was then the Bega floodplains and in the middle of the 14th century it was united with the old town, secured by ramparts. The very well-preserved, only slightly altered, medieval town center, with richly decorated, magnificent stone and half-timbered houses from the late Gothic and Renaissance periods, characterize the cityscape. The focus of the more than 300 architectural monuments is along the Mittelstrasse and Echternstrasse streets.
