Villa Contarini, with its grandeur and beauty, dominates the center of Piazzola sul Brenta, overlooking a large semicircular square, half loggia-lined and half tree-lined: a spectacular setting. The vast park behind it, with ponds and avenues, is an oasis of peace.

A medieval castle dating back to the year 1000 originally stood on the site. Purchased by the Carraresi family and inherited by the Contarini family in the mid-16th century, it was demolished and the main body of the villa was built on its foundations, designed by Andrea Palladio, as a country residence. In the mid-17th century, major renovations decorated the façade and added two side wings (bringing the building's overall length to 180 meters), giving it its current Baroque style and transforming it from a rustic villa into a sumptuous venue for entertainment and entertainment. It was nicknamed the "Versailles of the Veneto" for its royal appearance and the celebrations and events held there. A period of abandonment followed, lasting until the mid-19th century, when the complex was purchased by the Camerini family and restored to its former splendor, following the stylistic dictates of the eclectic and Art Nouveau eras. At the end of the century, the large English garden was also created by reclaiming the existing rice fields. The villa was again abandoned after World War II. In 1970, it was purchased by a private individual, Giordano Emilio Ghirardi. Thanks to his investments, it was restored and opened to the public, serving as a prestigious venue for cultural activities and events. Finally, in 2005, Villa Contarini was sold to the Veneto Region.

In addition to tours, the villa now hosts events, concerts, business dinners, conferences, wedding receptions, and photo and film shoots.
