Bike to the top of Dennis Hill estate's 1,627-foot summit and enjoy panoramic views of Litchfield County, Haystack Mountain, Mt. Greylock, the Green Mountains, and parts of New Hampshire. Once a World War II lookout, the summit now serves as a popular spot for picnics and sightseeing. Dennis Hill, an ancient volcano, sits within three distinct watersheds: the Blackberry River, the Housatonic River, and the Farmington River. The 240-acre estate was gifted to the state in 1935 by Dr. Frederick Shepard Dennis. He loved the parks so much that he used to even host an annual steak dinner for park employees.
