Tarnica (1,446 m above sea level) is an absolute must-have when visiting the Bieszczady Mountains. That's why it was crowded at the top. The top is surrounded by wooden boards to protect the turf from being damaged by tourists. At the top there is an impressive steel cross, erected to commemorate the jubilee of the year 2000 and the pontificate of the Polish Pope, as indicated by the commemorative plaque. Father Karol Wojtyła, later Pope, visited Tarnica in 1954 during one of his tourist journeys. There is a beautiful panorama from the cross. The name Tarnica comes from the Romanian language and means "Saddle", originally it referred to the Przełęcz pod Czernica, which, seen from Wołosate, actually resembles a saddle in shape.
