But not only that: Pitigliano carries within itself a series of testimonies of an important Jewish community that lived here from 1600 until the unification of Italy, when the local Jews decided to move towards larger and richer cities such as Florence and Rome. But the Jewish past remains, so much so that it is affectionately nicknamed "little Jerusalem". Today the Jewish community of Pitigliano has almost completely disappeared, but the ancient ghetto is one of the most interesting areas of the historic center to visit, with its narrow streets and the beautiful buildings that overlook it. Finally, the position of Pitigliano in the heart of the Maremma makes the village an unmissable destination for those who decide to visit this area of Italy. But also the nearby villages, the beautiful surroundings and attractions are worth visiting, Sovana, Sorano, Magliano, the spa of Saturnia, the Via Cave... etc.
