The catamaran wreck is located near the marina in Lubczyn on Lake Dąbie (the lake itself lies within the borders of Szczecin and is the fourth largest lake in Poland).
The unit belonged to Jacek Kwiatkowski, a sailor and social activist particularly well-known to the local community. His story was covered by the Szczecin media years ago. Today, few people remember her. “The catamaran of Szczecin sailor Jacek Kwiatkowski has been stuck aground near Lubczyna for over a year. The man lost his life's belongings and became homeless," wrote "Głos Szczeciński" in the summer of 2011.

As Jacek Kwiatkowski told journalists then, he used all his savings to build the catamaran, he also sold his apartment, and the unit became his home. Interestingly, the catamaran was also an ecological laboratory where he wanted to conduct social educational activities. The sailor was supposed to stay for free at a nearby marina, but, as the newspaper described, at one point he was asked to pay and, despite his declaration of settling the bills, Kwiatkowski was ordered to leave the port. When he showed up at the marina after a few days of absence, the unit was gone. "The Floating Ecological Laboratory (..) was kidnapped and destroyed by hostile people," wrote another regional daily, "Kurier Szczeciński." The drifting catamaran ran aground and remains there to this day. Almost immediately it was looted and robbed of its equipment. Jacek Kwiatkowski never regained the unit. The sailor died in 2018.
