This monastery houses a Community of Discalced Carmelite Nuns, who continue the spirit of the Reformation of Saint Teresa of Jesus. Malagón is the Third Foundation of Santa Teresa and it is the only convent that was conceived from its foundations by the Saint, contrary to what happened in her other foundations, which occupy buildings already built (such as palaces or stately homes). This circumstance made it clearly capture the spirit of its Reform and give the building a very austere and functional character, both inside and out.
