Kilianus Bridge (1989) - Karlstein am Main / Mainflingen 🚴‍♂️

The Kilianus Bridge has a total length of 223 meters and is a steel arch structure dating back to 1989. It connects Mainflingen (Hesse) with Karlstein am Main (Bavaria) and serves as a pedestrian/cyclist bridge.

For decades, before the Kilianus Bridge, there was a small motor ferry that transported cars, bicycles, and pedestrians from Hesse to Bavaria. Cars eventually increasingly used the connection via the surrounding highways, especially the A45. Day-trippers, hikers, and cyclists also often used other options to cross the Main, such as the surrounding locks or neighboring ferries, such as the one in Seligenstadt. The Kilianus Bridge thus replaced the old ferry connection across the Main. In the immediate vicinity and clearly visible from the bridge, on the Mainflinger bank, stands the Catholic St. Kilian Church, which was completed in 1821 in the neoclassical style.

Mainflingel is worth looking at while driving through it.

On weekends when the weather is nice, there are even stalls on the bike path
