A very beautiful and varied climb, a long pass that takes time to appreciate.

First, a few kilometers along Lac du Verney, before tackling the first, somewhat austere, section of the climb through the forest to Rivier d'Allemont. This is followed by 3 (too) short, rolling kilometers and four hairpin bends, which lead to the Eau d'Olle (bridge). Then come the most difficult gradients, 7 kilometers of sustained climbing to the Grand'Maison dam. Then the slope eases, the landscape opens up and changes character, amidst the high-altitude mountain pastures.

One last hairpin bend at the Chalet, one last push, and the Col du Glandon reveals itself at the last moment.
