The Himmelpfforte church is of Romanesque origin. It stands near the entrance to the northwest of the village. The Romanesque church tower carries on a square floor plan a 1994 newly slated roof. At the same time the church tower received a new gilded tower button. The large church tower clock is at the base of the south side of the pitched roof, just above the percussion bell hangs under a small roof. The three church tower bells were cast in 1633 (Wikipedia).

The Himmelpfforte church is of Romanesque origin. It stands near the entrance to the northwest of the village. The three church tower bells were cast in 1633.

A large bricked arch on the east side of the tower is interpreted as access to a broken apse. The main entrance is in the south side of the tower. A covered wooden staircase on the south side of the 1729 renewed nave leads to the gallery floor inside the church.

The high nave carries a Krüppelwalm mansard roof, each with three standing roof windows on the south and north sides of the roof. The west side is without windows or doors. For some years, large parts of the church have been restored and repaired and the altar restored.

The organ is currently (2011) unplayable. It was built in 1731 by the Erfurt organ builder Johann Georg Schröter. The playing system of the organ is the only completely preserved one of a Schröter organ.
