Bouillon Castle is a fortress built on a rocky outcrop in the bend of the river. Ideally located to have a good overview of the entire area, the dukes of Bouillon thought it would be a good idea to build a castle here. The castle has been adapted over the centuries by the various users to the wishes of the new era and has therefore become a mishmash of different times and styles. The castle is a real military fortress. So no nicely decorated rooms here, just a cold dining room with a few dolls reminiscent of the life that happened. Here and there are a few scaffolding with dolls that depict something about everyday life from that time. Nevertheless, a tour through the castle with all its corners, towers, prisons and secret passages is very nice to do. For those who are very tall, it can even be a bit challenging here and there as the corridors can be very low.
