This railroad car piercing the earth's surface is the western exit from the B-level of the Senckenberganlage

A slightly different way of designing a subway exit, with a nice grafity right next to it on the wall

The unusual “Bockenheimer Warte” underground station is located near the Goethe University. Zbigniew Peter Pininski: architect, professor of cultural anthropology, artist and author, designed it. It's an old London tram car that breaks through the ground, throwing up the cobblestones and chunks of asphalt around it. The subway is brought to the surface and thus functions as a distinguishing feature and entrance at the same time. The architect breaks with the usual design of the above-ground area of a subway station. Instead of a blue “U” as a sign for the subway, you can see a subway at the Bockenheimer Warte. Pininski uses public space as a stage for his sculpture, which, in addition to its artistic value, also has a practical use.
