On my trip from Vreden to the Zwillbrocker Venn I was looking for the German breeding ground for flamingos. A circular path was laid out to circumnavigate the lake at a safe distance from the breeding water-loving birds. There are various viewing platforms from which you can watch the hustle and bustle. The best way to see the flamingos is from the northeast lookout tower. I was there on a Friday in bright sunshine, about 14 degrees, around 12 o'clock. They then climb up the tower and then wait in the third row and after about 20 minutes they have made it to the front and take their photos with their cell phones. The result has nothing to do with the photos you find on the internet. On my next visit, I'll be there earlier, maybe April or September, and hope that I'll have more time to observe.
