Volkmarshausen Railway Tunnel

This tunnel entrance is the southwest portal☝️
These or even both tunnel facades are listed buildings!
The railway was in operation between 1855 and 1995 and thus over 100 years.
The last witnesses are more and more forgotten, such as the old stone kilometer, the wooden platform or the old lamps.
A great & mysterious place!Park the bike shortly beforehand, the last few meters are on foot🤸

The tunnel structure is freely accessible. The former breakpoint Volkmarshausen, which lies in front of the southwest portal of the tunnel is overgrown by plants but still clearly visible. It can be reached from the village of Volkmarshausen via a steep forest path.

I am in favor of reactivating this railway line. Railroad tracks belong on tracks and not cycle paths. Cycle paths can be built parallel to the railway line
