The Chinese Tower is not directly on the Danube Cycle Path. But you can get there via a small underpass on the cycle path near Donaustauf. A bit hidden, but worth the detour 👍

The Chinese Tower in Donaustauf is an extraordinary architectural monument and part of the former palace gardens. It was built around 1800 as an exotic summer house in the style of the then-popular Chinese fashion and was first remodeled between 1817 and 1819 under Prince Karl Alexander von Thurn und Taxis. A further extensive redesign took place in 1842 under Prince Maximilian Karl. After Donaustauf Palace was destroyed by fire in 1880, the tower survived the destruction, but was moved to Regensburg in 1902, where it gradually fell into disrepair. Thanks to the efforts of a support association, it was restored and returned to its original location in the Prince's Garden in 1999.

The octagonal wooden structure, with its characteristic pagoda roofs and colorful decorations, is now a protected architectural monument and can be visited regularly during the summer months. It is also used for cultural events and serves as an official venue for civil weddings.
