    Portumna Friary started out as a small chapel dedicated to the Cistercians in the 13th century. In 1426 it was handed to the Dominicans who built the Abbey. Later in the 18th century it became a Protestant place of worship. If you have time on your run, it is worth taking a moment to explore.
