Very interesting construction above the entrance to the castle.

      Unfortunately the chapel was closed.

Count Otto II had the three-aisled Gothic church built in the castle at the end of the 15th century. The castle church was probably consecrated in 1501. In any case, this date is carved into the keystone of the entrance gate below the church.

The church has largely remained in its original form since that time. A fresco of a Madonna with a halo of rays was uncovered from the original painting in the recently restored choir. The images visible below depict Otto's son, Bernhard III, with his family, who completed the church begun by his father.

In the south aisle is a large Renaissance sandstone epitaph for Count Conrad of Solms-Braunfels (1540–1592) and his wife Elisabeth, née Countess of Nassau-Dillenburg. The richly decorated wooden epitaph to the right between the windows commemorates their children.
