The former spinning mill building of the Huesker & Co. company, founded in 1861 during the industrialization era, is a typical example of textile industry buildings in the region around the turn of the century. In the town of Gescher, which had grown into an important textile manufacturing center, the Huesker spinning mill was built between 1905 and 1909 by the Swiss firm of Séquin & Knobel.
The elongated, three-story brick building features a five-story water tower and, at the rear, a boiler and engine house. The interior of the textile factory is designed according to functional principles; the exterior is characterized by historicist architectural elements. The facades, with their large windows, are decorated with yellow bricks.
The elaborate wall design of the machine hall in neoclassical styles is noteworthy. The architectural enhancement of the space emphasizes its significant position within the overall structure of the spinning mill.
The impressive spinning mill building still dominates the townscape of Gescher today.
The building was gutted in 1994. In 2011, new offices for what is now HUESKER Synthetic GmbH were created in the listed building.
