The peak of Balaïtous is a magnificent Pyrenean mountain which culminates at 3,144 meters. It is the first summit to exceed 3,000 meters from the Atlantic coast. This granite massif is located on the border between France and Spain.

Its access from the north is via a chimney without great difficulty, which however requires you to wear a helmet to protect yourself from possible falling rocks.

I strongly advise you to bivouac at the top to experience impressive sunrises and sunsets.

Balaïtous comes from the Occitan which means "milky valley" because of its old Las Néous glacier loaded with whitish mud from its granite decomposition.
