Benzingerode is located on the north-eastern edge of the Harz Mountains in the transition area to the Harz foothills. The small village can look back on 800 years of history.

Benzingerode has been incorporated since 1993. The place name was first mentioned in the fief register of Count Heinrich I of Regenstein. To the north-west of the village lies the Austberg, on which there was once a watchtower and was part of the old land defense system in the northern Harz Mountains. It served as a protective tower around 1250. Today the watchtower is an observation tower with a wonderful view of Benzingerode and the Harz Mountains in the Harz foothills.

The neo-romantic village church, which was built in 1903 and resembles the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin, is worth seeing. The six-kilometer-long menhir circular path to the three menhirs is also an inviting place to hike.
